The Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association has been celebrating 100 years of excellence, empowering girls and young women to be leaders in their communities with ‘Camp Jumbo’ 2017!
The camp was divided into three sub-camps: Kandula, Kadol and Raja (The names are of elephants that served the country in different occasions) with a total of 1200 campers from nine provinces.
350 girls took part in Free Being Me activities and then did their Take Action project bringing the message to two other campers who were then took part in FBM activities too.
A special guest from the Ministry of Education visited the camp and the girls explained to him the ideas of Free Being Me, concluding ‘It is important to always be true to yourself rather than trying to imitate others!’

It was good experience to cover the whole camp by spreading the message to feel that free being me is a important programme for every child to make them feel important and to be empowered to go forward and face the sociaty
